Each night from July 1 to Aug 31, 20…12 Sundays, Wednesdays & Fridays Skyline Sunset Hike (Bilingual) View from the Skyline Trail at Sunset © Parks Canada, Chéticamp Immerse yourself in nature’s masterpiece where the mountains truly meet the sea. You will be led through the boreal forest to witness a breathtaking sunset over the Atlantic Ocean 400 metres below. Don’t forget your camera: bald eagles, moose and whales often make an appearance. Time: 2 hours before sunset Location: Trailhead of Skyline trail Duration: 2.5 – 3 hours Distance: 7.5 km (4.7 miles) return Trail suitable for most skill levels Mondays & Tuesdays Seeing in the Dark Night Hike Parks Canada, Ingonish Enjoy a transformative experience as you explore the night in a place where it truly gets dark. While being guided through the woods, the absence of artificial light challenges visitors to step outside their usual comfort zone and learn how to use their other senses during a journey into the nocturnal world. Time: 8:30 p.m. in July / 8 p.m. in August Location: Warren Lake trailhead Duration: 2.5 hours Distance: 4 km (2.5 miles) Uneven terrain Trail suitable for most skill levels Thursdays & Saturdays Haunted Hike at Freshwater Lake, Parks Canada, Ingonish As the darkness creeps in, listen for the haunting call of the loon, or will it be one of Ingonish’s ghosts? As the moonbeams glisten on the lake you will become spellbound by the tales of this place. Time: 8:30 p.m. in July / 8 p.m. in August Location: Ingonish Beach day use area – Freshwater Lake trailhead Duration: 2 hours Distance: 2.5 km (1.6 miles) Trail suitable for most skill levels Important Information Night Hikes are recommended for visitors 12 years of age and older. Visitors must pre-register at either visitor centres or campground kiosks. Space is limited. Cost: $14.70 per person. Park pass also required. Visitors should dress appropriately as it often cools down at night. Sturdy, closed-toe footwear is recommended. Insect repellent may be needed. No pets please.
