Victoria County Active Transportation Study
Victoria County has undertaken an Active Transportation Study
What is Active Transportation?
Active Transportation is human powered transportation (non- motorized) that includes, walking, cycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, canoeing, kayaking, skateboarding etc. Active transportation connects communities to each other thru trails, bikeways etc.
So if you are interested in trails, bike lanes or just identifying areas where you can safely go for a walk – you should participate in this study. Many of the trails used by hikers, cross country skiers and bikers have been developed by snowmobilers and ATV users – these users are also encouraged to give their input.
The contract for this study has been awarded to the engineering firm CBCL. CBCL will have representatives in Victoria County all next week (Feb 10 to Feb 14) and they want to speak with you. Their open house schedule is ;
Tuesday, Feb 11: 3 PM to 5 PM at the Baddeck Court House (Upstairs).
Wednesday, Feb 12: 3 Pm to 5 PM at the Smokey Recreational Centre, Ingonish Beach (old school).
Check back with this site next week for an update on the activities of the Active Transportation study. We urge you to participate.
