Walking Wednesdays Workplaces

Walking Wednesdays

When: January 21 – February 25, 2015
Walking Wednesdays Workplace 2015PDF

Goal: To experience the joyful side of walking by committing to walk together as co-workers once a eek for 6 weeks this winter season.

Here is how it works:

-A Walkabout at Work leader, or future Walkabout at Work leader, registers their workplace and participant names by e-mail to walkabout@heartandstroke.ns.ca by January 19th. Space is limited so be sure to register early!

-Workplaces require a minimum of 3 employees to walk as a group for at least 10 minutes every Wednesday for 6 weeks. Workplaces can have multiple teams to accommodate different lunch hours and breaks.

-When a workplace has at least 3 employees who walked for 10 minutes (or more) together on Wednesday and notifies us at walkabout@heartandstroke.ns.ca – they will receive a weekly virtual ballot. .

-At the end of the challenge, all workplace ballots are entered into a draw for a gift certificate towards a healthy lunch from a local restaurant up to $125 (depending on the number of walkers).

-If it is unsafe to walk outdoors (everyone walks at their own risk) – please find a suitable indoor location. If this is not possible – let the Heart&Stroke Walkabout™ Team know what other day you will be walking that week instead. Please refer to http://www.walkaboutns.ca for possible indoor walking tracks near you.

-Bonus: If co-workers walk together on other days or they record their steps on http://www.walkaboutns.ca, their names will be entered into a bonus draw for a prize package. The group leader will be responsible for submitting these additional activities by February 28th.

-Workplaces also have the opportunity to choose one Wednesday in February to celebrate Winter Walk Day. We will send some incentives your way to make that walk extra fun if you choose to participate. J

Happy Winter Walking!
