RBC Learn to Play Leadership Grant of $25,000 has been applied for & received by Sport NS for the Cape Breton Region to increase parental understanding of physical literacy and improve quality sport and physical activity programs being delivered. The aim is to lay the foundation for children & youth to develop physical literacy skills to be confident, competent and active for life. The focus is to enhance CS4L (Community Sport for Life) knowledge mobilization and LTAD alignment (Long Term Athlete Development) in Cape Breton and take strides in developing CS4L communities:
-Facilitate an opportunity for organizations and sectors to work together around CS4L
-Develop communication strategy to educate parents about the importance of physical literacy and link them to participation opportunities
-Host mini-summits & workshops for community sport organizations and increase awareness and understanding of physical literacy for parents and health, sport, recreation and education practitioners and volunteers
-Support municipalities to introduce and enhance programming that contributes to the development of physical literacy
-Support development of community sports plans based on CS4L principals
A Cape Breton Active for Life Leadership Task Team has been formed with their first meeting scheduled tba. Naturally Active Victoria County is represented on the Task Team.
