TOURISM NEWSLETTER | August 2018

Cape Breton Island named # 1 Island

A Local Ambassadors’ Look

In the July edition of the newsletter, we reported that Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best named Cape Breton Island as #1 Island in Canada.  We had great fun as we set out to see why local ambassadors think Cape Breton Island is #1.  The results are in! The video’s complete. Have a look and share far and wide!

Special thanks to the local ambassadors who participated.

Cape Breton Island Reps at Rendez-vous Canada

Cape Breton Island was represented at this year’s Rendez-vous Canada held in Halifax May 13-16.  Seventy–five  (75) appointments with operators from around the world were conducted. Follow-up with each appointment has been completed and some have already reached out looking for additional information.

Note: This year, we developed a brochure aimed specifically at Chinese travellers. This all-Mandarin brochure was very well received by Chinese attendees, who were thrilled that we went to such lengths to communicate with them. As well, our 2018 Cape Breton Experience Guide was sent to everyone in their follow-up and distributed at the event itself.

If you would like more information on any of these organizations, please email
lisa@dcba.ca for their full profile sheet.

Taste of Autumn 2018-  Where to Eat?

Thanks to all our partners who participated  in last year’s Taste of Autumn  – Where to Eat campaign.  This campaign encourages operators to remain open with regular hours and a full menu until October 31 to accommodate visitors staying on the Island beyond Celtic Colours International Festival. With such a great response, we’re gearing up for the 2018 edition.

The promotion of participating restaurants is free of charge and will include significant profile on cbisland.com, inclusion in a brochure listing your business, online marketing including social media and email marketing.  If you are interested in participating, please complete the Sign-Up Form by clicking the button below by 10 am, Friday, August 24th.  Please contact Stacey St. John with any questions at 902-539-2458 or stacey@dcba.ca.

Special Note:  We are expanding the program this year to include Farmers’ Markets, food trucks, farms that sell local food and welcome visitors.
