$18,000.00 Provincial Funding for Facility Access Program in Victoria County

Naturally Active for Life Victoria County (Est. 2011) is pleased to announce $18,000 Facility Access Funding from NS Department Communities, Culture & Heritage for 2017-18.

Increasing access to physical activity facilities and places for Nova Scotian’s to be active is a vital part of the province’s culture strategy, Nova Scotia’s Culture Action Plan.

The Funding will support and assist Victoria County Volunteers, Leaders, Community Groups, Service Providers & Facility Operators to have their facilities accessible for residents & visitors.

The Victoria County Physical Activity Strategy recognizes the support of the Province of Nova Scotia. We are pleased to work in partnership with the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage to develop and promote our Cultural Resources for All Nova Scotian’s.

Top 4 Priorities of Facility Access Assistance Fund 2017-18 includes the following:

Priority #1:          Natural Outdoor Environment

Priority #2:          Learn To/Try It, Skills & Leadership Development Access Since 2014

Priority #3:          Active Access Passes – Cape Breton Regional Library (North             Victoria Library Branch, Ingonish & Baddeck Library)

Priority #4 – Schools & Community Wellness Rooms and Community Halls Access in Victoria County Since 2014

Policy development work will also be included in partnering; collaborating with Victoria County community partners to assist and support them incorporating facility access into their seasonal plans benefiting residents & visitors

For a 3rd year (2015-16) in a row – “Thrive” in Partnership with Naturally Active for Life Victoria County, Victoria County & NS Department of Communities, Culture & Heritage (Formerly – Health & Wellness Active Living Branch) supported our Volunteers, Leaders, Organizations, Service Providers & Facility Operators to offer Affordable & Accessible initiatives at community facilities, schools, halls, major sport venues, etc. throughout Victoria County.
