Sept. 16, 2017
Hi everyone – We have an exciting market lined up for tomorrow, Saturday September 16, 2017. Brenna will be serving a variety of baked treats for brunch in the cafe. The ever popular Norm MacDonald will entertain us. AND we will be doing our first-ever apple cider pressing in the fire hall’s front room at 11:30. Come and see this deluxe manual press in action (co-funded by ***HERSS and the Cape North Farmers Market), give the wheel a turn and have a drink of fresh cider! – Claudia Gallagher
***This was a new initiative last year 2016-17 as part of the Victoria County Healthy Eating in Physical Activity Recreation Sports Settings Assistance Fund & Policy and is going to benefit the Cape North Farmers Market and Communities North of Smokey. This was an investment by Victoria County in Partnership: https://naturallyactivevictoriacounty.com/healthy-eating/herss/
Notice: August 22, 2017:
Hi everyone – The Farmers Market is having its busiest season ever. There’s also been a big demand from vendors for tables, and space is limited. To guarantee a table, occasional vendors MUST let us know by Thursday or sooner if they want a table the following Saturday. Regular vendors MUST let us know by Thursday or sooner if they are NOT wanting a table the following Saturday. Please let Brenna know either way at
902 455 5793 or by e-mail: claudia gahlinger – email@example.com
or contact the Cape North Farmers Market facebook page.
ATTENTION ANYONE INTERESTED IN CAFE VENDING: We have openings for kitchen vendors to serve a small brunch/lunch on Saturdays in September and October (last market is October 7). Great fundraising opportunity for you and/or your organization! Contact Brenna at info above.
LASTLY, we have an opening for a CLEANER after the market, 1-2 pm, $20 for the hour. Duties: check kitchen and bathrooms, wipe tables and sweep floor. Great opportunity for a vendor, student, or anyone else.
HELD – Annual General Meeting
Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 4 pm at the Cape North Fire Hall. An annual membership fee of $5 gives you a vote and a say in market activities so consider joining.
All vendors must become members, fee payable at AGM or at the market. Tables are still just $10. We have openings for cafe operators. See you at the AGM and or the market.

The northeast Highlands of Cape Breton Island – is a mountainous, rocky one, with harsh weather and many, if small, pockets of arable land.
Primary Goal of the Cape North Farmers Market:
To bring about a resurgence in growing, selling and eating local food. The fresh produce, fish, maple syrup, honey, preserves and baked goods at the market may be limited in quantity but they are unsurpassed in quality, and our vendors are the friendliest you’ll find anywhere! We carry baked goods, fresh produce, preserves, crafts, maple syrup and more.
